Strength, focus, determination

Wall Climb

Wall climb is a progressive height competition that tests speed, jumping power, grip, and determination.

  1. SET THE TARGET
A toy or bite target is suspended above the wall at the starting height for the competition.
  2. BEGIN THE ATTEMPT
The handler positions the dog at the designated starting point and releases it toward the wall.
  3. REACH THE MARK
The dog runs up the wall and must successfully reach or secure the target according to the event’s rules.
  4. RAISE THE HEIGHT
After a successful attempt, the target is moved higher. The greatest completed height becomes the dog’s final mark.

How it works

Wall climb is a progressive height competition that tests speed, jumping power, grip, and determination. Dogs receive a limited number of attempts at each height, with the highest successful climb determining placement.

Why Wall Climb?

  • Wall climb is an exciting test of a dog’s speed, power, coordination, and determination. Each attempt challenges the dog to build momentum, scale the wall, and reach a suspended target at increasing heights.
  • The sport provides energetic, driven dogs with a rewarding outlet for both physical and mental stimulation. Training requires focus, body awareness, confidence, and clear communication between the dog and handler.
  • Wall climb is fast-paced and exciting for competitors and spectators alike. The supportive community celebrates every achievement, whether a dog is attempting the wall for the first time or setting a new personal best.

TIPS FOR GETTING STARTED

  • Attend a local competition or training event before attempting the sport. Watching experienced teams will help you understand the equipment, rules, handling techniques, and safety procedures.
  • Begin with low, achievable targets and reward your dog for approaching and engaging with the wall. Gradually increase the height as their confidence, strength, and technique improve.
  • Get to know your dog. Is your dog a breed or have a personality that would enjoy wall climb? Or would they possibly be better suited for a different sport?
